Location
The archaeological complex of Huchuy Qosco has an altitude of 11,975
feet above sea level, located in the peasant community of the same name,
in the top of a part Mountain Chain from a league, at the south of
Calca, in the department of Cusco.
Huchuyqosqo is an awesome Pre-Spanish monument, located in the top of
the Mountain Chain, from a league to the south of Calca, in the
department of Cusco.
Huchuyqosqo is located from a half day walking from Cusco, so it is very
close to Cusco, it makes us thing that they had a parallel cultural
development.
Wiracocha, the eighth inca, was the one who choose Huchuyqosqo as its
place to live. He ordered to build palaces, temples because he felt old
and tired. He whished he leaved the government, to quit the work in
Cusco and search for some peace and tranquillity in other place so he
left Cusco.
How to get to Uchuyqosqo?
There are three routes to get Uchuyqosqo: Through Lamay, you arrive to
Lamay from Cusco through Pisaq, it takes 50 minutes to get there by bus
and you will walk for three hours to get Uchuyqosqo by foot. From Cusco,
1-day walk and through Chinchero, it takes 40 minutes to get there from
Cusco by bus and you will walk an entire morning to reach Uchuyqosqo. |
