Location
Its altitude is of 3680 MSN and is located about 4 km (15 minutes)
northeast ofl Cusco city by road asphalted.
Meaning of the Name
The word Q’enko means maize with lots of returns.
It was said that it was a ceremonial center and place for rituals, it
has an amphitheater that has 19 windows that were used to worship, there
is also maize that leads to the underground galleries, in the superior
part there is canals and carved shapes
There is also a patio that has a semicircular shape that has a parameter
that is close by some great niches that surround a stone or wanka of
little thickness locked up in an enclosure, there one can find images
within their own chapel. The mummy of Pachacuteq and its relatives, they
were found by Polo de Odegardo in Toqokachi possibly was in Q’enko.
This place of worship is located in what today is called the Socorro
hill and it has an
Area of 3,500 square meters.

How to get to Qenqo?
It is located 15 minutes from the Main Square by bus, near to
Sacsayhuaman. To reach Qenqo you can take any City Tour (Pull) of any
travel agency (almost all of them offer this kind of service); by foot,
it takes 50 minutes walking from Cusco City or you can take a Private
Tour. |
